Press Release - DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE IN 101ST ENDORSED BY NATIONAL ORGANIZATION, RUN FOR SOMETHING
Run for Something (RFS) announces its second round of endorsements in 2018, including Decatur Democrat Jen McMillin, who is running for the Illinois General Assembly in the 101st District. McMillin is one of 40 candidates who will be strong voices in the next generation of progressive leadership.
“As someone who stands for progressive values and is dedicated to ensuring a bright future for Illinois, I am honored to receive the endorsement from Run for Something. Not only has this organization already trained many candidates how to run for office, they are also ensuring we will have the resources to win,” McMillin said.
Run for Something recruits and supports talented, passionate young people who advocate for progressive values now and for the next 30 years, with the ultimate goal of building a progressive bench.
“These first-time candidates all have the heart and hustle that is so important to us at RFS, and we are proud to give them our endorsement,” said Ross Morales Rocketto, co-founder of Run for Something. “Put simply, they are the type of people we think the Party needs and the type of candidates who are going to work hard. They are knocking on doors and stepping up to run grassroots, community-led campaigns.”
More than 16,000 young people from across the country have signed up as candidates and gained access to Run for Something resources, with 232 earning an RFS endorsement. The endorsement process includes an extensive internal review with background check, staff interview and insight from local state experts.
