Press Release - MCMILLIN DEMANDS RENEWED EFFORTS TO PROHIBIT RIGHT TO WORK MUNICIPALITIES
After multiple attempts to discredit and demoralize union workers from Governor Rauner, Jen McMillin, candidate for the Illinois General Assembly in the 101st District, demanded on Wednesday that the Illinois General Assembly renew efforts to prevent the creation of local Right to Work laws.
“Last year, the Illinois General Assembly successfully passed anti-Right to Work legislation that Governor Rauner vetoed at the expense of our union families. We must stand up and protect our workers from further erosion of wages and protections.
"Right to Work states have lower annual salaries, lower rates of employer-sponsored health insurance, and higher rates of gender pay disparities. The people of Illinois deserve better, and I demand we fight to protect our workers."
McMillin is the lone Democratic candidate running for the Illinois General Assembly in the 101st District to fill the seat soon to be vacated by Rep. Bill Mitchell (R).
