Press Release - State Rep Candidate McMillin praises passage of budget bill
For the first time since 2015, Illinois lawmakers passed a budget through both the House and the Senate on time. Credit should be given to those lawmakers who put aside partisanship for the good of our state, its residents and our economic stability.
While this is a solid first step, we must demand the General Assembly does its job every day, not just when it is politically convenient to do so. A top priority for the fall will be to address the bill backlog which stands at $6.6 billion today.
I urge Governor Rauner to sign the budget as soon as possible so that we may move forward toward stability and economic health. Our residents and families deserve no less.”
