STATE REP CANDIDATE MCMILLIN ADMONISHES SUPREME COURT DECISION, VOWS TO FIGHT FOR WORKING FAMILIES

6/27/2018

State representative candidate McMillin admonished the decision of the Supreme Court on Wednesday that ruled that government workers who choose not to join unions may not be required to help pay for collective bargaining.

“In yet another politicized blow to working families, the Supreme Court has sided with those against public sector worker rights. This decision ensures a free ride on the backs of prior workers that fought for decades for collective bargaining power. The fact of the matter is, fair share fees ensured that all public sector workers gain from the leverage of unions, and political contributions were being refunded - a clear delineation for freedom of speech.

“As the next state representative in the 101st district, I vow to fight this decision as well as to strengthen the power and numbers of public and private sector unions. Unions built the middle class, and politicians like Bruce Rauner and Dan Caulkins are actively working on destroying it. We need to work together and rebuild the supports of working families, starting with our unions.”
